Terms of Use
Last updated:
These are the terms between you and Little Chapters. They apply to the app, the website, the subscription and anything you order from us. We have tried to write them in plain language.
Your photos and stories stay yours. We only use them to make Little Chapters work for you.
The subscription renews automatically. You can cancel any time in your Apple or Google account settings.
Subscription payments run through Apple or Google, so refunds are requested from them as well.
A printed book is made especially for you. That is why it cannot be returned, unless something is wrong with it.
Who we are
Little Chapters is a service of Avarion B.V., Plasweg 12, 3768 AM Soest, the Netherlands. Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 96346752, VAT number NL867571962B01.
You can reach us at [email protected].
What Little Chapters is
With Little Chapters you capture photos, notes and stories of your child, your pregnancy or your family, month by month. You can have them made into a printed photo book or a calendar.
Part of Little Chapters is free. Some features, or use beyond a certain number of photos, require a subscription. What is free and what is not is always shown in the app before you commit to anything. Viewing what you have already captured stays free.
Your account
You must be 18 or older to create an account. Keep your login details to yourself and give us accurate information.
You can invite others to read along or write along. You decide who has access, and you are responsible for whom you invite.
You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings.
Your photos and stories
Everything you add remains yours. You only give us permission to store it, show it to you and to the people you invite, process it for the features you use, and print it when you order a book. We do not use your photos and stories for advertising and we do not sell them.
Only add what you are allowed to share. You are responsible for photos of other people. How we handle data is described in our privacy policy.
AI writing help and interviews
Some features use artificial intelligence, for example to turn loose notes into a story or to ask you questions. AI can make mistakes. Read texts before you save or print them; you decide what goes into your book.
What is not allowed
Do not use Little Chapters for anything unlawful or harmful to others, and do not try to disrupt, copy or circumvent the service. If that happens, we may restrict your access or close your account.
The subscription
The Little Chapters subscription is available per month and per year. You see the price and the length in the app and in the App Store or Google Play payment sheet before you commit. The price in the store, including VAT, is the price that applies.
New subscribers get the first month free when the app offers it. After the free month the paid subscription starts automatically, unless you cancel before the free month ends. The free month can be used once.
The subscription renews automatically for the same period, at the price that applies at that time. Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation of purchase and then within 24 hours before the end of each period.
You can cancel at any time. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. On Android: Google Play, your profile, Payments and subscriptions. The app has a button that takes you there. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you keep access until that period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
After your subscription ends, everything you captured stays in place and you can keep viewing it. Adding and writing may be limited until you subscribe again.
If the price changes, you will hear about it in advance from us or from Apple or Google, and you can cancel before the new price takes effect. Subscriptions taken out earlier under the name Little Chapters Plus continue at their own price and terms.
Cooling-off period and subscription refunds
As a consumer in the EU you have a 14-day cooling-off period for distance purchases. You get access to the subscription straight away, which means you ask us to start immediately.
You buy the subscription from Apple or Google. They collect the payment and handle refunds under their own rules. With Apple you request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, with Google through your order history in Google Play. If that does not work out, email us and we will help.
Printed books, calendars and gift cards
You order and pay for a book or calendar separately on our website, not through Apple or Google. You see the price, including VAT and shipping, before you pay. Check the preview carefully: we print what you approved.
Every book and calendar is made especially for you. The statutory right of withdrawal therefore does not apply, and an order cannot be cancelled or returned once it has been placed.
Is your order damaged, misprinted or missing? Email us within 30 days of receipt with a photo. We will arrange a reprint or a refund. Your statutory rights for a defective product always remain.
Delivery times we mention are an estimate. Orders usually arrive within two weeks.
A gift card is valid for two years from purchase, cannot be exchanged for cash and can be redeemed once. Keep the code safe; if it is lost we can only trace the card through the buyer's email address.
Availability and changes
We do our best to keep Little Chapters available at all times, but cannot promise there will never be an outage. We may change, add or remove features. If we remove something you pay for, we will tell you beforehand.
These terms may change. For an important change we will let you know at least 30 days in advance, in the app or by email. If you disagree, you can cancel and delete your account.
Liability
We handle your memories with care and make backups, but we recommend keeping your most important photos yourself as well.
We are not liable for indirect damage, such as lost income. Our liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the damage. This does not apply in case of intent or gross negligence on our part, and it never limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law.
Ending
You can stop at any time by deleting your account. Cancel a running subscription in the store first, because it does not stop by itself when you delete your account.
We can close your account if you seriously breach these terms. Where possible we will warn you first and give you time to download your memories.
Apple and Google
These terms are an agreement between you and Avarion B.V., not with Apple or Google. We are responsible for the app, its content, maintenance, support, and for complaints or claims about the app. Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance or support.
You receive a personal, non-transferable right to use the app on devices that you own or control, within the usage rules of the App Store and Google Play.
If the app does not work as promised, you can notify Apple, which will refund the purchase price where applicable. Beyond that, to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation for the app. We handle claims that the app infringes someone else's rights.
You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States embargo and that you are not on a United States sanctions list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Governing law
Dutch law applies to these terms. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country. Disputes are brought before the competent court in the Netherlands, unless the law designates another court.
Do you have a complaint? Email us first. We respond within five working days and look for a solution together.
